Tim's First Post

I'm Tim, the 3rd son.
My "fundamentals of acting" class was cancelled for today, so I don't really have any classes, except for one I'm teaching at 5pm. Every Thursday, as part of my piano pedagogy class, I give an individual lesson to a student from the freshman Group Piano class, which is a class that all the non-piano music majors have to take (unless they pass the piano proficiency test). I helped my first student until her first exam, and then I got a new student, as did everyone else in the pedagogy class. My new student is very tall. I think the professor assigned her to be taught by me 'cause I'm the only one in the class who just might be taller than her.
All my classes got cancelled for tomorrow, too. Theory was cancelled, pedagogy rarely meets on Friday, anyway (because we teach on Thursday evenings), History was cancelled, and the Glee conductor just told us that he was cancelling class on Friday, too. Good thing; I doubt there would have been more than 2 people there, with Fall Break upon us and all.
Sometime within the past few weeks, theory class has become math class. The class is "Post-Tonal Theory," and it seems that much of "post-tonal" music isn't concerned with whether the music sounds good or not, just that it's really cool, theoretically. They can be pretty cool, theoretically, all formulaic and stuff like that, but I'm missing the 19th century music.
I think I'm more in the groove of things this semester; I haven't been stressed out about any classes or tests, and I've been able to get all my homework in. Strange, I don't really think as much about the fact that I'm doing school, and yet I'm doing it better than ever. Or so it seems for now.
Cassandra and I are looking for a church to attend. This semester, I've gone back and forth between two churches, First Baptist and Westover. Most of the people who left our first church have settled at Westover, but Cassandra and I aren't too impressed with it 'cause there's not really a college ministry or any Sunday school. The music minister is interesting, too...sometimes I get the impression he thinks he's a pop singer, cause he really gets into the music, and the choir is there mainly just to back him up, I suspect. The cameras (there's an overhead screen so people in the back can see better) get really close close-ups of his face all scrunched up, too, so that's pretty weird. There are several services every morning...sometimes I feel like it's "come by, get your weekly church in, leave." Friendly, but impersonal, it seems like. Maybe I'm just not trying hard enough there. First Baptist has a college ministry and SS, but it doesn't all seem very biblically based, and the leadership is pretty liberal, from what I hear. Not that I think I should decide on a church based on its political stance, but, it's what lies beneath the political stance that I think is important. I think I'll try the Church of Latter-Day Saints, next. I should probably find out if there's one nearby, though.
Piano is going well, I'm trying to memorize things, now. I just came to terms this past week with the fact that I'm terrible at using a metronome. My piano professor helped me out with that a lot in my last lesson, and hopefully my own practice time will be effective (in this particular area).
I was looking through some of my pictures last night, and I realized that I've taken next to no pictures lately. I think I'm gonna get a disposable soon. I used to take them all the time, and I'd like to have some of junior year, too.
I better go; it's almost lunch time, and then I need to practice and get ready for the lesson I'm teaching today. I wish you all well.

Wow, Tim wrote the longest post. I'm impressed...is that the same church I visited when I was there? (The one with several services.)

Hey, when did you title your post? I just realized it! Time for a second one. By the way, I had a weird dream about you last night.
Reality is better :)
