More News from Outer Space

"People were probably wondering: If they take away Pluto, is Rhode Island next?" Binzel quipped. "There are as many opinions about Pluto as there are astronomers. But Pluto has gravity on its side. By the physics of our proposed definition, Pluto makes it by a long shot."
(From Fox News, in one of those maddening articles where I couldn't find another reference to "Binzel" or who he is. If you find one, please let me know; it's probably there somewhere.)

Go to the link to see what the astronomers are considering now. Can they do that??? Just change things we had to memorize for grade school?

See, we could go Dr. Seuss on this:
Ned, Ned, de* thread is dead.
It is so sad.
Go tell your dad.
(*This word borrowed from a different set of comments. Apparently it is a word with many uses, already, and it's new.)
Someone else may take over.

Dr. Seuss would cry tears of joy. Well, okay, possibly not joy. But possibly.

So I was reading Grace one of her little science book, and there they were: 9 planets with their names listed, from Mercury to (sob) Pluto. I didn't know how to handle it. "It is so sad, Go tell yo momma."
