I must say, sad news about Pluto. Ben just came in and told me. I shall always remeber what I was doing when I heard the news.
A while back I told Josh that I realized I was searching for three things: a guitar, a church, and a car. Well, I still want a better guitar, but....I am finally settled on a church, Treasuring Christ Church.
I'm really excited about that. They meet in downtown Raleigh, and they do a lot of ministry to the poor there. And Travis, one of the pastors, has a 3-yr-old son named...dum da dum. Gracie. I mean, Isaiah. Yep.
And of course, I got a car. Still needs a bit of work, but that should be done soon.
Which leaves the guitar....I'm planning on getting an Elloree (http://www.elloreeguitars.com). This is a gur who lives in Louisiana who has made guitars for Andrew Osenga and Andrew Peterson. His whole business sounds really cool - you tell him how you want your guitar (and he does any custom stuff you want pretty much, for no extra price), and then he sends you a scrapbook along with the finished guitar, so you have pictures of your guitar as it's being built. Not like getting one that was just shipped from a big factory. Plus they're really cheap since he doesn't do a lot of fancy ornamentation. Oh yeah, and uh, I believe they sound good. I've heard a lot of samples, but hopefully I'll get to go down there sometime soon to play one. This is what it will probaly look like:

I'm going to do something sort of different in a few weeks...there's a songwriting retreat in the mountains called Solatido, which is like the worst and cheesiest name ever for a songwriting retreat. In the middle of the week, a musician named Pierce Pettis will be there one evening doing a workshop and a concert. I've been trying to decide whether to go with the all-week option, or to just go for the workshop. Then yesterday I stumbled across this picture of some participants at the camp last year (captioned "Solatido participants do the Hokey-Pokey to warm up in the morning"):

Oh, yeah. They're having a blast.
So my decision was pretty easy at that point.

Oh, Ben, give them another chance. All - week, gotta do it. How long has it been since you did the hokey-pokey? And looks like there are girls there : ).
And I am excited about the church. And the car is cool too. We'll be eager to see the guitar. Sounds like a big deal purchase. All your present goals will be met, what then??
then I can die in peace.
well, that sure seemed to kill the conversation.
I mean, I don't want to beat a dead horse, but...
But what....?
but I'm dying for some tender horse meat?
oh dear
That is so sad. I'm not sure BethanIE had ever heard of beating a dead horse when she first read your post, so she probably thought you were rather strange.
haha yeah she probably did
kt said the girl in the front looked like my type?
I agree
Ha Ha. Only because she is human. Actually she looks kind of like Becky A., who used to go to our church, nice, old enough to be your mom, and married. Which would make her, uh, not your type.
Nice try, girls :)
oh, you girls! sigh
Hey, we'd love it if you keep us posted on how the guitar adoption - er, I mean, purchase - is going. Sounds fun.
k
'tis
and I twill
You know, looking at the picture again, do I see Benjamin A. - in a white skirt?
Surely not.
Hey, Ben, when do you think you'll get your guitar?
i'm thinking about just ordering it without playing it, since it's gonna be hard to get down there. 14-hour trip.
Will they stand behind it if you aren't perfectly happy?
hmm. I don't think so. Andy O and Andy P are both happy, though.
Well, then I guess that seals it. How can you not trust the two Andys?
