We have a new pet. Cassandra found it, but she already has a pet, so she agreed to let us keep it. How we met? Well, it goes something like this...
Yesterday Cassandra and I were walking towards the building that holds our German class. Cassandra just happened to glance over at a trash can and noticed two eyes peering out. It was a young, pitiful creature, which had somehow gotten trapped in with the trash. Cassandra wanted to rescue it, so I helped her out a bit, but she was the one with the most credit for freeing Kitty (as Cassandra has decided it shall be called). I wanted to get to class, though, so I went ahead and left Cassandra to get him out of the trash can.
When my class was over, I called Cassandra to see how the rescue had gone, and she told me that she had put Kitty in her purse and walked home (a significant walk). I was a bit surprised at this, but Cassandra seemed convinced that it would make a good pet. . (She couldn't keep it herself 'cause Amanda wouldn't let her).
RANDOM FLASH FACTOID: Turns out it's pretty rare for possums to get rabies, so Mom, you wouldn't have to worry if one of us ever came into contact with one.
He's pretty ugly, but in a semi-cute way. Especially when he "plays possum"...he's not really that good at it. Cassandra got an actual picture of him, but it is on her cell phone and she hasn't yet figured out how to get pics from her phone to the computer. So, I have posted a few general possum pictures (I know, pretty random) here for your enjoyment, until we are able to get the real one (it's of Kitty hanging from a pipe in the bathroom...pretty cool).
On another note, same chord: I saw a snake yesterday, too. Must've been Wildlife Day on campus. Again, I was walking with Cassandra, and this time I was the one who noticed it... a very young snake, brownish, with a brown head. It was so small that we couldn't tell exactly what its pattern was, or the shape of its head. Since there was no evidence that it was non-poisonous, we went ahead and let it be.

oh. wow.
that is awesome. where does it stay?
has it eaten anything?
wanna Kitty Ben?
I think Kitty has Igor beat for coolness btw
I am dumbfounded. I don't know what to say. I had not yet recovered from the bat episode.
I'm eager to see a picture of, uh, de. (No, wait, dem?) Help me out here, Ben.
So does it make noise? I understand the bat made a clicking sound....
I can't believe you guys, uh, rescued this thing. I think we should rename Cassandra Elly May.
And if I didn't like our new subtitle so much I'd suggest renaming it "Mama don't allow no varmints in here."
Aren't you glad I found my tongue again? It must have been a scary thing to see me speechless.
yeah, 5 comments in 5 minutes. that's pretty good
and Cassandra, does Kitty have mandibles of death?
Three part comment (hey, you guys have lots of questions to answer):
1) Do you still have him?
2) What do you keep him in?
3) Is he going to Atlanta with us?
A) yes Kitty did in fact have mandibles of death - turns out opossums have like 50 teeth
1) ~sigh~ sadly no, we let Kitty go close to where we found him - I just hope he stays out of steep trash cans :*(
2) We kept him in a box in the bathroom
3) He didn't seem much for road trips...
Well, I'd love to see the picture.
Did you at least keep him for one day.
it appears as tho ole' Igor has been bumped off...
And none too soon, perhaps. He was interesting but made me nervous. I'd much rather look at Josh & Abby when I scroll down.
